Makino a51nx KME Tombstone
KME 5 AXIS TOMBSTONE - ADDS 5-AXIS CAPABILITIES TO 4-AXIS MACHINES

KME CNC 5-axis platters are built right into a precision ground, rigid meehanite cast iron tombstones that are designed specifically for Horizontal Machining Centers. Our model came with four independent 5-axis platters - 2 platters on each side of the tombstone. Platters extend only a couple inches from the face of the tombstone, taking up less space within the Horizontal Machining Center work zone than a surface-mounted indexer.

We have KME patented Wireless tombstones which come with no wires, cables or any type of connections allowing change-over or pallet pool applications to run lights-out. By maintaining a single point of holding on a particular part, machine tools have the ability to machine the first point and move to a second point with absolutely no relative deviation. The position of each point within the five faces will be perfect in relation to the machine tool’s capability.

CNC Finishes

As-Milled

The finish option with the quickest turnaround. Parts are left with visible tool marks and potentially sharp edges and burrs, which can be removed upon request. Surface finish is comparable to 125 uin Ra finish.

Bead Blast

The part surface is left with a smooth, matte appearance.

Anodized

Type II creates a corrosion-resistant finish. Parts can be anodized in different colors and is usually associated with aluminum.

Type III is thicker and creates a wear-resistant layer in addition to the corrosion resistance seen with Type II.

Powder Coat

This is a process where powdered paint is sprayed onto a part which is then baked in an oven. This creates a strong, wear- and corrosion-resistant layer that is more durable than standard painting methods. A wide variety of colors are available to create the desired aesthetic.

What is CNC Milling?

CNC milling is the process where a material or a previously machined part is held in the mill and cutting tools, spinning at high rates of speed and positioned by precision servo motors, machine features in the material or part. The CNC milling machining process generates features like flats, slots, posts and off center threaded, and non-threaded holes.
